All the audiovisual assets, however, appear to be made by Waixing themselves. While this hack features cutscenes not present in Hummer's original version, the gameplay itself remains unchanged both visually and mechanically, to the point where every fighter floats instead of walking. Like with DBZSB2, there are three modes and eight characters, with each of them to be fought in a random order, on specific background. Myth Struggle (封神榜) is a modification of Dragon Ball Z - Super Butoden 2 by Waixing, which was based on Feng Shen Bang ( The Investiture of the Gods), a XVI century Chinese novel.
Unlike the original game, Goku is a starting character, and Broly and Bojack don't appear.
The ending is taken from the original game, albeit without the credits. The forest stage's theme, which is Bojack's theme from the original game, was reused in Tekken 2, another game by Hummer Team. As well as these, one of the backgrounds in the hack is taken from AV Bishoujo Senshi Girl Fighting. In Dragon Ball Z - Super Butoden III, most of the backgrounds were replaced, using graphics from Ninja Gaiden III, Super Spike V'Ball, Guerilla War, and Contra Force. Many of the stages themselves use multi-layered scrolling. The graphics and music are taken from the original game and simplified, with some characters sharing stages. The characters are fought in a random order, and are always fought on certain stages. However, the Arcade, Versus and CPU vs CPU modes are present. The story was completely removed from this version.

Unlike most Hummer Team games, it is in full Japanese as opposed to English. This is one of many pirated fighting games on the Famicom to use the Street Fighter II Engine. The animation is really beautiful, more subtle and pared back than DBZ but equally thrilling.Dragon Ball Z - Super Butoden 2's Gameplay. I've been rewatching the Tien Shinhan arc and the fight between him and Goku is so well done. It does start out more childlike, but after the first couple arcs the intensity really starts to build. You really become attached to the characters watching them grow up, which only heightens the drama when the saiyans come and start killing off the fighters. It adds a whole new dimension to everything that comes after it. DB fills in a lot of gaps and honestly is just some of the best writing in the series. When I was a kid I never understood what the deal was with Tien or why everyone seemed to treat Piccolo like a bad guy early on. If you've only seen DBZ, watching DB is really enlightening.
